Suffolk Charity Sculpture Workshop August 2010

This workshop was planned in order to help my niece Maria Spencer finance her “World Challenge” project for next year. It was fully booked by a mixtures of adults and teenagers - friends, local s who had read the advert, mother and father with their teenage children. Studio based Sculpture Tuition

Dates: Friday 17th of September 2010 for a 10 week course 10.00 - 1.00 and 1.30 till 4.30

Offered in my own studio . Clay will be the main medium, but carving (Durox) stone is also possible. Imaginative and portraits heads, animals or the human figure, and abstract forms are all important elements of the teaching.
The main emphasis however will be on nurturing the personal imagination, developing own ideas, and thereby improving ceramic techniques.This individualised "art school" approach to teaching benefits students, and as they get stimulated by the variety of styles and subject matter around them. An extensive library of sculpture books and laminated images of sculptures are available, and many are sculptures on display - both student's and mine - to supplement the teaching.
Once a year in June there is a mixed exhibition at the studio and garden, in which those students who feel motivated can contribute towards, and show alongside professional artists.

Complete beginners and all levels of experience welcome.

One or two trial sessions possible for newcomers at £28.

Seven students maximum
Time: Fortnightly Fridays and Mondays 10.00 - 15.00
Cost: 10 x £17 = £170 excluding clay (£6.50 a 12 Kg bag) and firing
I have 20 years of experience teaching sculpture from her studio, in art colleges, mainstream and special schools, day-centres and galleries.

Holiday sculpture workshops for children and adults 2010

Offered by experienced sculpture tutor Beatrice Hoffman at her own studio near Preston Capes. The price: £25 inclusive of half a bag of clay and firing of one sculpture

Small number of students - only between five and seven

Parents, teachers or other adults are also welcome, as a mixed (age) group can be very positive.

This year I exhibit and demonstrate making ceramic sculpture over two weekends, near Oxford and near Bedford:

4th -7th of March - the King Sutton Literary Festival, - Art in the Church

4th of May - 26th of June - “Found Space” at Arlington Arts Centre north of Newbury (also part of the West Berkshire snf North Hampshire Open Studio)

First Friday on the 7th of May with Sue Lewis near Warwick

23 May - Open Gardens Badby/Northants - Shakespeare Cottage

11th to 14th of June: Weekend of Art at my home, studio and garden, exhibiting work of many artists

26th of June - Exhibition with the Northampton Town and County Art Society at Lamport Hall
(Sculpture workshop on the 27th of June)
