Garden Sculpture

Garden Sculpture

Below you will find a collection of images of  my sculptures in a garden setting. These photos might have been taken in the many sculpture parks I exhibited in;  or  in the private gardens  of clients who bought my sculptures.

Sculptures and garden form a symbiosis, enhancing each other to great effect: gardens are enriched through the focal point of a sculpture ; sculptures in turn come alive and are softened as they integrate into the lawn,  foliage or flowers of borders .

The position of the sculpture within the garden is paramount: Exposed and taking centre stage on a lawn; with a view into the valley and the river Thames; or seeking protection in the space beneath an oak tree.

Plinths or bases of various height control the relationship between sculpture and surroundings, supporting the overall design of art in the garden. They might be wood logs, a garden wall, thin steel rods, stone columns or a rusted steel base; they might be visible or camouflaged in foliage or flowers.

Creating colour contrast to its garden environment, you see the  brilliant blue of “Abstract Wave 2” interact with the white and bright green of the mock orange bush; or the dark “Etruscan Couple 2” embedded within white margaritas; the turquoise in the dark “Big Embrace” resonating with the red dahlias around it ;Or the vivid green of the “Arum Lilly” complementing the rust-red of the old brick wall behind it .

Weather and seasons affect plants and sculptures alike, through frost, snow, rain, sun and shade; and allow the sculpture to become part of nature.
